Sometimes I take for granted things that I hold dear

My Lord, my friends, my family, always thinking they’ll be near.

I consider them my anchor in this sea that we call life

Holding fast my vessel; through the storms, fear and strife.

To know the worth of the anchor I must feel the wrath of the storm

Its fury will remind me, I can’t make it on my own

The anchor will hold me against the current of the sea

Its strength was tried and tested, the anchors worth all to me.

When storms do not threaten the skies above the sea

And my ship is smooth sailing that’s when I need to see

The value of my anchor it gives me hope to know it’s near

But He has a place waiting for His children this world cannot compare

A place that John described in Revelations oh what a sight to see

But even John didn’t view all the splendor that awaiting you and me.
